Stayka's World of Darkness Stuff | Technocracy Belgium | Online Games Overview

Christophe Durand (NWO) - played by Stayka
 Eloise - played by Dingo

 Storyteller - Dingo

<Le_ST> 6 am, a cold morning in Brussels. You are standing just outside your apartment there (a place you've never even been too), you have a bag packed with a set of normal clothing, some toiletries and thats it.

<Le_ST> You couldn't bring more

<Christophe> (heh. I think I didn't bring much when I got transferred anyway. Agents travel lightly)

<Le_ST> This stuff was given to you by Jean..

<Christophe> (Do I get picked up, BTW?)

<Le_ST> for your mission

<Le_ST> A taxi stops right next to you.

Christophe looks at the cab

Taxi_Driver rolls down the window

Christophe steps closer

<Taxi_Driver> Are you Durand?

<Christophe> Yes.

<Taxi_Driver> Get in.

Christophe nods and steps into the car

Taxi_Driver starts driving

<Taxi_Driver> There's a black bag on the backseat...pull it over your head

Christophe waits and doesn't say anything

Christophe does as he is told

Christophe has his mirrorshades on and adjusts them to YXRay sight before *g*

<Le_ST> After a driving for about 30 minutes the car stops..

<Christophe> roll 3 d10

Le_ST --> "Christophe rolls 3#d10 and gets 9, 7, 7."

<Christophe> (hehe)

<Le_ST>??

<Christophe> See above - Mirrorshades = Forces focus.

<Christophe> Easy to adjust them to XRay sight

<Le_ST> How well is your acting...pretending not to see is hard stuff..

<Christophe> I have Manip 4...

<Le_ST> Acting that you can't see is Charisma :)

<Christophe> Anyway, why should they supect anything - it's a full hood, isn't? And it was their thingy

<Christophe> Well, Char 3

<Le_ST> Okay the car stops at a parking lot

<Taxi_Driver> Get out.

Christophe stays where he is, but memorizes what he can "see"

Christophe fumbles for the door

Christophe takes care to take a moment, until he finds the door lever (?)

<Le_ST> Well when you get out you see a woman of about 20 years waiting for you.

<Christophe> Cautiously, he gets out

<Somebody_Else> Monsieur Durand?

Christophe holds fast to the car

Christophe turns in the direction of the voice

<Christophe> Yes?

Somebody_Else puts her hand on your shoulder and says please stay there

Christophe does as he is told

<Le_ST> You see the cab driving away (and hear it too)

<Le_ST> the girl takes out some kind of scanning devices and moves it around your body....

Christophe doesn't make a move

<Somebody_Else> Bon..if you would please follow me..

<Christophe> (unless she tickles me?)

Somebody_Else grabs your hand

Christophe takes the hand

<Christophe> Is the ground even?

<Le_ST> she didn't touch you, it's a fairly sophistacated metal detector / bug detector..

<Le_ST> You're in a parking lot

<Christophe> (Does she say that?

<Christophe> (Chris is supposed not to see anything, remember?)

<Somebody_Else> Yes, M. Durand...it is..

<Christophe> Ah good...

Christophe makes some tentative steps

<Christophe> I hope you'll warn me of any stairs

Somebody_Else takes you to a van thats parked at a little distance..

<Somebody_Else> Watch your step..you are getting in a van now

Christophe makes sure to step cautiously and not too fast

Somebody_Else helps you get in..

Christophe 6akes the other arm in front of him, as too feel hor any obstruction - or in this case the van

Somebody_Else closes the doors behind you...

<Christophe> Thanks you...

Somebody_Else pulls of the hood

** Somebody_Else is now known as Eloise

Christophe gets in and sees to it that it appears somewhat clumsy

Christophe looks at her more closely now.

Eloise knocks on a blinded window to the driver section (the whole van is blinded)

<Christophe> XRay vision is no comparison to real sight

Eloise is about 20 years (perhaps younger) has brown hair and hazel eyes..her face is quite freckled (?)

Christophe touches the frame of his mirrorshades to deactivate the XRay vision

Christophe smiles at her. Enchante, Mademoiselle

<Eloise> Have a seat (this van has a comfortable couch and a chair in it..)

<Christophe> You have an advantage to me - you know my name

<Eloise> I'm Eloise

Christophe sits down

<Christophe> Nice to meet you.

Christophe nods his head.

<Le_ST> There's also a desk with a computer on it here

Christophe looks curiously around

Eloise checks you out

<Christophe> (In what way?)

<Le_ST> (she looks at you, from head to toe and looks at your face)

Christophe looks at her with a slight smiles & returns the visual examination

<Eloise> You don't look like someone who has fought in Somalia

<Le_ST> You didn't...

<Christophe> (How far was Christophee briefed, BTW? I hope he got extensive details in the filesd?)

<Le_ST> It was Bosnia

<Le_ST> (pretty extensive)

<Christophe> (Oh, I see)

<Christophe> Well, maybe that's because I never fought there... It was Bosnia, Mlle Eloise

Eloise smiles

<Christophe> Anything else you might want to know?

Christophe cocks his head in a challenging manner

<Eloise> Just one question...why couldn't we pick you up yesterday..

<Christophe> (They were given info about Jean, I assume?)

<Christophe> Well, I had an important ...appointment

<Le_ST> Yes

<Eloise> An appointment with whom?

Christophe grins at her.

<Christophe> Well, a very dear colleague of mine

<Christophe> (They had dealings with Jean before?)

<Eloise> I don't think that Monsieur Dumont was ever in the mercenary business.

<Le_ST> Yes...Jean, the armsdealer (she is a goood suplyer of them)

<Christophe> (Err, ST - they know Jean als lady, do they?)

<Le_ST> (Yes)

<Christophe> Well, I would know if Jean was a guy...

Christophe chuckles

<Eloise> Okay, this will do for now.....

Christophe grins broadly at Eloise

<Christophe> No gory details?

<Eloise> I said that this will do M. Durand

Eloise looks at you harshly

Christophe sobers up, albeait a bit disappointedly

Christophe concentrates to check whether she believed him (he uses his Mind Effects more of less with an ESP Paradigm)

<Eloise> We didn't decide to allow you a chance at joining our company...

<Christophe> roll 3 d10

Le_ST --> "Christophe rolls 3#d10 and gets 9, 8, 9."

<Le_ST> She believes your anwsers, she doesn't trust you though..

<Christophe> (me is content with that)

<Christophe> (Influencing her to actually trust him might get too suspicious ^_^)

<Le_ST> Just a little bit more danger...thats is the difference as far as I can see..

<Christophe> (Well, I use my Enlightened Science subtly ^_^)

<Le_ST> And I do think that the Consensus is a Joe Average...so it won't be that hard..

<Christophe> (And with vulgar Effects you automagically get Paradox - it depends on how you rule when something is coincidental and when not)

<Le_ST> exactly..Joe Average..things might be possible to pass of more easily as coincidental for a joe average..

<Christophe> (Heh. At least something ^_^ But then, I don't have a laser rifle with me anyway :-)

<Le_ST> But the trip seems to last some time..

Christophe doesn't try to engage Eloise in a conversation.

Eloise keeps looking at you

Christophe thinks she doesn't look like she's look fondly at something like that

Eloise sometimes squints her eyes a little..

Christophe still has his mirrorshades on and prefers to look somewhat aloof

<Le_ST> at 11 am the car stops

Christophe wonders how a young girl like her got into such a terrorist group...

<Eloise> ah, we're there..

Eloise opens the door to the van..

<Le_ST> You smell a farm..

<Christophe> Good.

Christophe doesn't ask "where"...

<Le_ST> and hear cattle..

Christophe look to Eloise, and then gets out, taking his bag along

Christophe sneezes

Eloise follows you out of the car

<Christophe> Dammit!

<Le_ST> The car leaves

Christophe sighs. He hates to be forces to be outside

Christophe waits for Eloise to take the leasd

<Christophe> The area might be trapped

<Le_ST> You have arrived at a fairly small farm somewhere in the Ardennen..

<Eloise> Follow me

<Eloise> She walks towards the stables

Eloise walks towards the stables

Christophe sneezes again and hopes Jean packed him some antihistaminica, too

<Le_ST> She did

Christophe follows Eloise

<Christophe> (Jean get's another kiss when I return... ^_^)

<Le_ST> There's a trike parked in the stables.

<Eloise> Up for a little ride?

<Christophe> Well, sure.

Eloise gets on the trike..

Eloise gets on the trike and starts it

Christophe thinks this was her turf, after all, so he had to wait and see

<Eloise> Get on, M. Duran

Christophe gets on it, too

<Eloise> Get on, M. Durand

Eloise drives away...really fast

<Christophe> Already there

Christophe holds fast

<Le_ST> The ride goes cross country for a while..Eloise isn't driving reckless but it comes close...at about 11:30 you arrive at a place with a fence around it. She follows the fence for a while and you come at a gate.

<Le_ST> There's a soldier there who waves and lets you pass...

<Le_ST> You've arrived at a bunker inside a mountain...

<Eloise> Here we are...

Christophe surveeys the area

<Le_ST> It seems like an old abandoned bunker..

<Christophe> (BTW, you can be sure he neatly memorized it so that he can do a Landscape of the Mind kind of Effect later when needed)

<Christophe> Good.

Christophe waits for Eloise to lead the way

<Eloise> If you would please be so kind as to follow me.

<Eloise> Inside everything is locked with a keycard mechanism, there are also guards around...

<Eloise> (ack)

Eloise leads you through the complex and brings you to a "cell"

<Eloise> You can stay here for now

Christophe follows and memorizes the interious as well as he can

<Le_ST> It's a pretty simple layout from what you've seen so far..and everything is neatly labled with "roadsigns"

<Christophe> (Is there anything in there?

<Le_ST> Yes. A bed, a television, a empty shelve, a cupboard, a desk with a terminal on it..

<Christophe> (The "cell?"

<Le_ST> Yes

<Eloise> I will be back in two hours..

Christophe nods to Eloise and puts on a fleeting smile.

<Eloise> If you would please be so kind as to get inside..

<Christophe> Thank you Mlle Eloise. - Do I have an access code for the terminal?

Christophe puts his bag on the ground in front of the bed

<Christophe> Sure...

<Christophe> (I thought he was already inside)

<Eloise> See you in two hours

Eloise locks the door

Christophe raises an eyebrow, although he already expected this.

<Christophe> He decides to turn on the terminal

<Le_ST> It asks for a login

<Christophe> (In the worst case he will try to hack his way in *g*

<Le_ST> You don't have any...and hacking in will be a pretty bad thing to gain their trust..

<Christophe> (Which OS?)

<Le_ST> Unix

<Le_ST> It was a Unix machine

<Le_ST> ah well..I'll solve it, but puzzling toget the missing files..

<Christophe> Ok... Which Unix?

<Le_ST> does it matter?

<Christophe> ^_^

<Christophe> Yeah.... If you want to try and hack into the system, yes

<Le_ST> You can bet your ass that it's pretty secure for a "mundane" computer system...

<Christophe> If it is Linux and I get the console, I'm in, without root password :-)

Christophe just needs to reboot the system...

<Christophe> Well, I have two hours and I'm bored...

Christophe will certainly try to hack in, just because he doesn't have anything else to do

<Le_ST> This is just a terminal...it's a monitor, a keyboard, mouse and a video/network card...thats it..

<Christophe> Aww....

Christophe sighs

<Le_ST> So the reboot trick won't work either..

<Christophe> Indeed.

Christophe will check if there is a guest login, though

<Le_ST> nope

<Christophe> Well,

<Le_ST> the televisions works though (a few channels)

Christophe is bored, so he will try out several accounts and a handful of standard PWs which shouldn't be used, but are anyway

<Christophe> (And I'll look under the keyboard for a PW :-)

<Le_ST> You really are bored, aren't you?

<Christophe> Sure

<Christophe> 2 hourse, and a terminal where I can't get in.

<Christophe> That goes against my honour!

<Le_ST> And you are here to gain their trust.....

<Christophe> Sure, but wouldn't it be more suspicious if I wouldn't try anything?

<Le_ST> I doubt that...

<Christophe> Heh.

<Christophe> This is "my" cell, it has a terminal, so I want to use it ^_^

<Le_ST> hehe

<Le_ST> Well after two hours of frustration over that terminal your cell is unlocked..

Eloise unlocks your cell

<Eloise> Hello M. Durand

<Christophe> Hello Eloise

Christophe looks at her.

<Christophe> You really could have given me a guest access

<Christophe> I would have loved to play some .nethack...

<Eloise> The terminals are for our operatives only...

Christophe sighs tragically

<Christophe> So, what's up now?

Christophe looks glad that he is now relieved from the boredom

<Christophe> (Heh, he was officially kicked from the army for "insubordination", so he has to play the role ^_^)

<Eloise> You will be briefed, just to make sure that you are who you say you are......and after that....well, I'll see...

<Eloise> Now if you'd please follow me

Christophe shrugs and does as he is told. Not much else to do for now

<Le_ST> Eloise takes you to a briefing room..there is pretty neat lie detector device here....

Christophe just hopes there'd be lunch soon. He was getting a bit hungry

Christophe makes some mental exercices to steady himself for the examnation..

<Inquisitor> Sit down M. Durand

<Christophe> As you wish...

Christophe sits down

Inquisitor hooks you up to the device

Christophe does some self-suggestion to keep his heartbeat, breathing etc calm)

<Christophe> (Kinda autogenous training)

<Le_ST> Yeah, the thing is..your briefing from the Union has prepared you to the questions, but it definately takes some enlightened science to fool the lie detector..

<Christophe> (Well, I'll go for a Mind Effect to convince myself of the veracity of my statements ^_^)

<Inquisitor> Please state your name?

<Christophe> Christophee Durand

<Christophe> (Tell me when I have to rol...)

<Le_ST> Place of Birth

Christophe replies to the questions according to the files from the briefing.

<Inquisitor> (actually most of the questions you have to roll...you can manage with 2 successes to fool the whole device..)

<Christophe> roll 3 d10

Le_ST --> "Christophe rolls 3#d10 and gets 10, 6, 3."

<Le_ST> The total interrogation takes about 2 hours, but you manage to convince the inquisitor that your statements are indeed the truth..

<Le_ST> after the interogation you are unhooked from the device.

Inquisitor leaves

Christophe is relieved that everything went fine, so far. But slowly he'd really like to eat something

Eloise enters

Christophe smiles weakly at her

<Christophe> I have a question, Mlle Eloise...

<Eloise> Yes, M. Durand?

<Christophe> Could I get some snack, or will this have to wait still?

<Eloise> We could go for a quick snack...

<Christophe> That would be nice

<Christophe> (It should be 16:30 - 17:00 now)

<Le_ST> Yup, and dinner is at 21:00

<Eloise> Well if you please follow me to the messhall

<Christophe> (I only got some coffee in the morning, I fear)

Christophe smiles as her a bit more confidently now and follows

<Le_ST> Heavy security here...lots of cameras, guards and keycard locks..

<Le_ST> even to a so public place as the messhall

Christophe looks up and smiles insolently in the first camera that he sees there

<Le_ST> The messhall is a pretty straightforward place...some stuff to eat, lots of benches..

Christophe waits for Eloise to show him the proper procedure here

<Le_ST> (me has some pretty big ICQ traffic too, so sorry if I slow down a bit)

<Christophe> (NP)

<Eloise> Well, there's two choices of meals..

<Christophe> c

<Eloise> and of course there is the usual sellection of sweets and coffee

<Christophe> (Oops... I'm tin'ing ^_^)

Christophe orders one of the choices of meals.

<Le_ST> It's a decent meal..

Eloise waits patiently untill you are done with your meal.

Christophe eats up fast...

<Christophe> Then he smiles at her.

<Christophe> THanks. That was necessary...

<Eloise> Well we still have some business to do..

<Eloise> If you would be so kind as to follow me

<Christophe> Of course.

Christophe looks where to put the empty dishes

<Eloise> Just leave them on the table, and give our kitchen crew something to do

<Christophe> Okay.

Eloise grins with a quick look towards the kitchen

Christophe follows her

Eloise leaves quickly..

<Le_ST> <Some Kitchen Guy> Merde, can't you clean up after you leave!! (as you leave the mess)

Eloise grins

Christophe raises an eyebrow and shakes his head

Christophe has the impression he just was used as a tool in a little ...difference between Eloise and the kitchen staff

<Le_ST> She takes you to an office..

Christophe follows...

Eloise sits down at a desk, opens a drawer, gets a keycard puts it in a special device thingy..and types something on the computer..

Christophe waits patiently

<Eloise> Here we are, you keycard...this gives you acess to all low security areas.

<Christophe> Thank you.

Christophe takes the cards

<Christophe> How do I tell the difference between the security areas?

<Eloise> Those being, the living quarters, the mess, the rec-room, the sanitary areas

<Eloise> they are all coded in green..

<Christophe> Good.

Christophe nods

<Eloise> and directions to all places are on the signs in the hallways

<Christophe> Very well.

Christophe nods again.

<Eloise> Breakfast is at 8-9 am, Lunch from 12-14, Dinner is from 19 pm - 21 pm.

Christophe takes mental notes

<Eloise> In between there is the opportunity to eat the leftovers...

<Christophe> What exactly will my field of work be here?

<Eloise> for starters we will evaluate your capabilities and perhaps train you in those we find lacking...

<Christophe> Good.

<Eloise> One pretty important rule around here is not to get too attached to any of the other operatives...most prefer their personal space very much..

Christophe shrugs

<Eloise> And some don't return..

Eloise looks a bit sad

<Christophe> Well. I don't intend to make buddies here. I want to earn some good money

<Eloise> But the pay is pretty good...and as soon as you are settled and we trust you enough you will have plenty of time to spend it..

Christophe puts on a smile. That's why I'm here.

<Eloise> Any more questions M. Durand?

<Christophe> When will the evaluations begin?

<Eloise> Oh..and it's Eliose...just Eloise

<Eloise> Your evaluation begins tomorrowmorning at 8:30

<Christophe> Well, if you prefer, you may call me Christophee. It is shorter...

<Christophe> Where do I have to report to at that time?

<Eloise> I'll pick you up in the mess at that time.

<Christophe> THank you.

<Eloise> Any more questions M. Durand?

<Christophe> Is there anything schedules for the rest of the day?

<Eloise> For today??

<Eloise> No...nothing else

<Christophe> Good. I would lke to look around in the non-restricted areas then. Is that feasible or should I wait to be escorted around at first?

<Eloise> You are cleared to go there...unless of course you'd prefer an escort?

Christophe wouldn't like to get into trouble just because no one there knows him and might mistake him for an intruder...

Christophe smiles at her.

<Christophe> It depends... If you would like to show me around?

<Eloise> Of course, I don't have much else to do anyhow.....

<Eloise> Where do you want to go first?

<Christophe> That would be very nice of you....

<Christophe> Well, I have seen the mess hall...

<Christophe> I'd like to take a peak at the rec room, too, and it would surely not hurt where the rest of the areas are located

Eloise takes you to the rec-room

Christophe looks around

<Le_ST> The rec room is part living room, part gym and part pool hall..

<Le_ST> there's also a machine for coffee here and a well stocked fridge..

Christophe takes everything in and nods in satisfaction.

<Christophe> Nice.

<Christophe> (Any other people there?)

<Le_ST> There is a fellow playing pool here...he looked at you when you entered but went back to concentrating on his game again..

Christophe looks at Eloise

Eloise was studying you..

<Eloise> Yes, M. Durand?

<Christophe> Is there also reading material around somewhere? I'd like to educate myself a bit in my free time

<Eloise> We have a few magazines

<Eloise> /me points at a table littered with magazines (of course most are outdated)

<Eloise> that is because this base isn't were you will usually be staying much..

<Christophe> You obviously don't happen to have a subscription of "Combat Handguns" or ""Guns&Ammo"?

<Christophe> Oh, I see.

<Christophe> Well. I will see what will await me then.

<Le_ST> The gym on the other hand looks pretty complete..

<Eloise> Well if you'd be so kind as to follow me

Christophe thinks that at least this was a plus here.

Eloise leads you to another door in this room (it's on the gym side)

Christophe wollows her

<Christophe> follows

<Le_ST> This is the shower and toilet area...some lockers here too..

<Christophe> (Re Asmo)

Christophe nods. Definitely better than in that cabin in the woods...

Eloise points at one of the open lockers...you can take this one..just pull your keycard through it and it's yours..

<Christophe> (he thinksd

Christophe does as suggested

Eloise points at yet another door

<Eloise> and that door leads back to the living quarters

<Eloise> where your cell is...

<Christophe> Good.

Eloise walks through the door she just pointed out

Christophe follows. He had to unpack his things

Eloise enters a room 2 doors before yours

Christophe nods good bye to her and continues to is room

<Christophe> his

Eloise smiles

<Christophe> Thanks again (over his shoulder)

<Eloise> if you need anything...don't hesitate to ask...

<Christophe> I will keep that in mind, Eloise

Eloise comes back out of her cell..

<Eloise> oh..M. Durand..you can only use the terminal if you are cleared for a mission...

<Christophe> Elois: That's a pity indeed...

Christophe sighs.

<Le_ST> Anything you want to do?

<Christophe> Well, then good night, - I will settle down now in my ...cell.

<Le_ST> It's around 19:00 hours now..

<Christophe> (Yup. But I think I will first check the cell for bugs and stuff...)

Christophe returns to his cell and unpacks his bag

<Le_ST> after a bit of searching in the obvious places you find some bugs..after looking in the not so obvious places you find some more...

<Le_ST> and someone has gone through you bag..

<Christophe> While he walks around to pack away his things, he looks in every corner etc with his Mirrorshades

<Christophe> (Forces/Corr/Prime scan)

<Christophe> roll 3 d10

Le_ST --> "Christophe rolls 3#d10 and gets 9, 2, 4."

<Le_ST> (and it should show what?? Bugs?)

<Christophe> (Sure. Bugs need electrical power

<Christophe> (So if there are power conduits, he should be able to see them.)

<Le_ST> Television set is bugged...and so are some other locations...all cables for the bugs are in the wall..

<Le_ST> Your guess is that 80% of the room is covered with videosurveillance and the rest is mostly audio..

Christophe makes a mental note about the location of the bugs and walks to te bathroom

<Le_ST> There's one camera in the bathroom area..

Christophe alwo checks the sanitary area for ugs as he walks through it to a toilet stall

<Christophe> roll 3 d10

Le_ST --> "Christophe rolls 3#d10 and gets 3, 4, 1."

<Christophe> Uups ^_^

<Le_ST> (1 temp paradox)

<Christophe> (St: Isn't it a coincidental scan?

<Christophe> Forces 1??

<Le_ST> (botch)

<Le_ST> hmm..wait..success..

<Christophe> (Coinc scan is 1+3 diff => no sux)

<Christophe> (Or wasn't it even only +2 according to Rev rules?)

<Le_ST> (silly me)

<Christophe> (I think Dan said Rev rules are +2, +3 and +4 respectively)

<Le_ST> nah, +3, +4 and +5

<Le_ST> but it's alright..nothing bad happens..

<Christophe> (Well, +3, +4 and +5 is definitely 2nd ed. I really have to check rev rules someday)

<Le_ST> (nothing happens, coincidental....and you didn't botch)

Christophe sighs and decived to disappear in one toilet booth, as not to appear suspicious

<Christophe> decides

Christophe checks the interior of the booth, too

<Christophe> roll 3 d10

Le_ST --> "Christophe rolls 3#d10 and gets 4, 8, 4."

<Le_ST> no bugs in the booth

<Le_ST> there is only a camera here that covers most of the room..

Christophe smiles. Thenhe knows where he might send his reports from ^_^

<Le_ST> That might get a little troublesome...you are inside a bunker in a mountain..

<Christophe> (Ah, right. FOrgot aout that ^_^)

<Le_ST> and all exits are yellow clearance areas

Christophe thinks that he has to wait a little... Jean might realize it wouldn't be easy for him to report right away

<Le_ST> and a too strong a transmitter could be very harmfull to your health...

<Christophe> (Indeed)

<Le_ST> Anything else you want to try?

<Christophe> (Not at the moment)

<Le_ST> Next morning??

Christophe will return to his cell and sleep until 6.30

<Christophe> Then he'll get up, get showered, dressed etc & be at the mess room at 8 sharp

<Le_ST> the shower isn't empty...there are some people male & female taking showers...

Christophe smiles non committally at them, says good morning & goes about his own business

<Le_ST> when you enter the messhall you are in line right behind Eloise who's only wearing a bathrobe

Eloise looks at you with sleepy eyes

<Eloise> grumff..

Christophe smiles at her.

<Christophe> Good morning :-)

Eloise takes a huge mug of coffee and a single croisant

Eloise leaves the messhall

Christophe sees that she obviously isn't a morning person.

Christophe gets a coffee au lait and two croissants

<Le_ST> Breakfast can be pretty extenisve if you want..they have a big selection of bread(s) to choose from, cereals, milk, porride, oatmeal (hot and cold), baked eggs...

Christophe looks for a free spot somewhere where he can sit down

<Le_ST> thats pretty easy...there's only three other people here..

Christophe takes two rolls, too and some butter and honey... (pretty French breakfast ^_^)

<Le_ST> The people here eat quite quickly...

<Le_ST> around 8:15

Eloise comes back..her hair is still wet, but her temper seems gone..she's wearing black fatigues, combat boots and a black tank top.

Eloise takes another mug of coffee and another croisant

Christophe also sees to it that he finishes in time - and he puts away his empty dishes this time ^_^

Eloise sits at your table..

<Eloise> good morning

<Christophe> Well, good morning again

Christophe smiles at her and eems to be somewhat amused

Eloise looks at a big clock in the messhall...

<Eloise> It seems time..are you ready?

<Christophe> (I guess I should be wearing something similar? Dunno what Jean packed for me...)

Christophe nods

<Christophe> Yes.

<Le_ST> Yeah..that kind of stuff is in the bag too..

<Eloise> Well first it's target practice..I thought we might start easy on you..

Eloise takes you to the shooting range, it's a red coded area

<Christophe> Okay

<Le_ST> There are some racks with weapons here...and boxes of ammo

Christophe follows her

<Eloise> Pistols first?

<Christophe> Whatever you wish

Christophe takes the weapon given to him

<Eloise> Actually it is what you wish in this case...it's up to you to show what you can do..

<Christophe> Well...

Christophe looks at the rack and chooses a weapon he is familiar with

<Christophe> (Whatever that is - I really don't know anything about firearms, I'm afraid)

<Eloise> Almost any mundane pistol, revolver, smg, rifle, automatic is here..

<Le_ST> (ehrm)

<Christophe> (ST: Well, tell me something that makes sense ^_^ Chris is my first char ever to use a mundane pistol ^_^)

<Le_ST> Well what do you think you prefer..a pistol or a revolver?

<Christophe> (What is the difference?)

<Le_ST> the second has a revolving chamber (limited shots, usually 6 (or 9)), but packs a bit more punch

<Christophe> (I don't know, i will just take something...)

<Le_ST> the first has a magazine (or clip) is a bit more accurate (in general) and can sometimes fire half-automatic..so thats really fast

<Le_ST> just helping you out so you know what you can do :)

<Christophe> (Well, MOre accurate sounds good to me. Than I take one of those)

<Le_ST> then you can pick either light or heavy..

<Christophe> (Sorry... As I said, I'm nnormally only using energy weapons ^_^)

<Le_ST> For the image..what would Chris use?

<Le_ST> Light is about the gun that a james bond would use...heavy is what you see Arnie use as terminator :)

<Christophe> (I guess light. - He looks more like someone who would'n barge in with heavy weaponry ^_^)

<Eloise> Are you satisfied?

<Christophe> Of course

Eloise looked at you when you browsed for you favorite pistol..

Christophe takes a weapons that looks ok to him.

<Christophe> (I'm sorry, I can't supply any brand names either...)

<Le_ST> (it's okay, I'm not a gun freak either..but I know a bit from playing too much black-ops games)

Eloise picks a heavy pistol (not something you usually see a girl shoot with)

<Christophe> (Strangely enough neither my vampires nor my other chars ever used firearms... And the other char normally had katanas most of the time)

<Le_ST> Well after a bit of target practice (roll dex+firearms diff 6)

<Le_ST> 2 times ..

<Christophe> roll 6 d10

Le_ST --> "Christophe rolls 6#d10 and gets 7, 4, 7, 6, 4, 9."

<Christophe> roll 6 d10

Le_ST --> "Christophe rolls 6#d10 and gets 3, 6, 4, 10, 7, 4."

<Le_ST> You manage to hit your target quite accurate

<Eloise>!dice 6

<Eloise> roll 6 d10

Le_ST --> "Eloise rolls 6#d10 and gets 1, 7, 9, 2, 8, 1."

<Eloise> roll 6 d10

Le_ST --> "Eloise rolls 6#d10 and gets 2, 5, 4, 6, 8, 8."

Christophe thinks his week with Philippe hasn't been wasted time at all.

<Le_ST> Eloise seems to have some trouble with the caliber of her pistol..

Eloise looks at your shooting results

<Eloise> Not too shabby..

Christophe doesn't comment on the fact that he thinks she'd better choose a lighter gun

<Christophe> Thanks.

<Le_ST> She hit the target..just not as nicely grouped as your bullets were..

<Christophe> It helped me survive in Bosnia

Eloise hands you an SMG (sub-machine gun, a weapon that spews bullets..)

Christophe takes it and checks it

<Christophe> (I guess this might need other targets?)

<Le_ST> yep..those are on the range too...

<Le_ST> basically you can roll dex+firearms+10 now

Christophe proceeds to the area where the fitting targets are located...

<Le_ST> for firing the entire clip (you are to be a terrorist)

<Christophe> You mean ten time?

<Le_ST> no..just add 10 dice (this is more difficult though...difficulty is 8)

<Le_ST> thats from recoil

<Christophe> (Oh, I see)

<Christophe> roll 16 d10

Le_ST --> "Christophe rolls 16#d10 and gets 8, 10, 5, 5, 5, 2, 3, 5, 4, 8, 1, 1, 8, 9, 2, 9."

<Le_ST> not bad..

<Christophe> But worse than the other gun

Christophe is more for precise shooting, I guees :-)

<Le_ST> still 6 successes (btw..from this comes our infamous quote (in my playgroup), the rule of many dice)

<Le_ST> (the more dice you have the greater the chance that you shoot yourself in the head)

<Christophe> (Indeed, LOL)

Christophe thinks the larger the die pool the more complicated the count ^_^

<Le_ST> In my Sabat game the vampire with dex+firearms 3 managed to hurt enemies more often than the one with dex+firearms 10

<Christophe> (Hehe)

<Le_ST> so here the system is broken..

<Le_ST> this weapon does have another setting too..short bursts

<Le_ST> add 2 dice, increase difficulty by 1

<Le_ST> fire 3-5 bullets (but thats all in the rules)

<Christophe> (Or he was just more lucky - I saw someone calculate the successes for the ST system, ind it did look sound)

<Christophe> roll 8 d10

Le_ST --> "Christophe rolls 8#d10 and gets 1, 3, 3, 9, 7, 5, 6, 4."

<Christophe> Barely ^_^

<Le_ST> with any weapon you can take your time to aim..

<Le_ST> For every turn you aim you get a +1 to accuracy for every turn you aim (up to perception), some toys add to your perception..

<Christophe> (Ehm, ifthere is combat, I guess you have to explain that to me again... )

<Christophe> (I have to admit I ind all this combat stuff always way to complicated for my taste...)

<Christophe> find

<Le_ST> and thats about all you need to now..just read the section on ranged combat (it's just 1 page (page 241-242 MagRev)

<Christophe> (I read that so often - it always escaoes me. I'm absolutely noone who should get into combat situations normally)

<Le_ST> oh well..

<Christophe> (I really can't remember, that stuff, sorry)

<Le_ST> The afternoon passes and you get an appreciative look from Elois

<Eloise> not bad, definately not bad....

Christophe just nods.

<Christophe> Well, I already thought you wouldn't go for amateurs...

<Eloise> Up for lunch..it's about time?

<Christophe> Good idea.

Christophe secures the laszt weapon he just had in his hand and puts it away

<Christophe> I didn't notice we fogot about lunch...

<Le_ST> Lunch is pretty good too...

<Le_ST> in the afternoon you are to be trained with the more likely terrorist weapons..

<Christophe> (Which are?)

<Eloise> You are taken outside...

<Eloise> where we will practice with the cooler toys

<Christophe> (*sighs* I'm sorry, I really don't know anything about such stuff...)

<Eloise> (grenade launchers, rocket lauchers and explosives)

<Christophe> (Sounds like fun, though ^_^)

<Christophe> (Too bad Christ doesn't have "demolitions" - that was something one of my vamps was great at :-)

Christophe simply follows Eloise

<Eloise> You probably know how to handle these..

Eloise shows you grenades, RPG and Grenade launchers

Eloise is having real fun

<Eloise> These are by far the coolest of toys available to us in our profession

<Christophe> (Should Chris know that?)

<Le_ST> These weapons you know how to handle..you just don't use them too often...

<Christophe> (This can't be firearms, or?)

<Le_ST> Where soldiers try to go for the clean kill, terrorists go for the maximum impact kills

Christophe looks appreciatively at Eloise.

<Le_ST> as long as you get your mark, don't worry about collateral damage

<Le_ST> These are firearms too

<Christophe> Well, so far I didn't have too much opportunity to use such goodies

<Christophe> I'm looking forward to the opportunity though...

<Eloise> Well, all the more fun to you....now you can use them...just be carefull where you point them...

Christophe grins and takes a grenade launcher

<Christophe> What do you want me to blow up?

<Le_ST> thats a breechloader in which you put a single grenade...then fire it with a bow to your target..

Eloise points at a target thats some 50 meters away

Christophe loads it and targets the object Eloise indicated

<Christophe> (1 WP, just to be on the safe side)

<Le_ST> dex+firearms and you need some successes

<Le_ST> the more you get the closer you hit

<Christophe> roll 6 d10

Le_ST --> "Christophe rolls 6#d10 and gets 2, 1, 6, 4, 4, 2."

<Christophe> (Glad for the WP :-)

Christophe looks excusingly at Eloise

<Christophe> Sorry. Told you I didn't have much practice with those

<Le_ST> You miss the target by a good 10 meters

<Le_ST> (btw, this is just improvisation from my side)

<Christophe> (^_^)

<Eloise> It's not that bad, just try again..she hands you another grenade

Christophe loads the launcher again

<Christophe> roll 6 d10

Le_ST --> "Christophe rolls 6#d10 and gets 2, 5, 7, 1, 1, 8."

<Christophe> Ack

Eloise grabs you and pulls you back really fast....a good 30 meters

Christophe sighs.

<Le_ST> The grenade explodes where you stood

<Christophe> Well, I guess this is an area where I definitely need some training.

<Le_ST> (my bad..no successes should just be a big miss)

<Christophe> (It's no botch according to Rev Rules9

<Le_ST> (me needs to learn to count)

Le_ST just can't count..

<Christophe> (Yup)

Eloise laughs

<Eloise> I can see you don't have had much practice with these...well it's okay...just try again..

Christophe nods

Christophe feels somewhat embarrassed

Christophe loads it again.

<Christophe> roll 6 d10

Le_ST --> "Christophe rolls 6#d10 and gets 10, 8, 5, 10, 9, 5."

<Christophe> Heh

<Le_ST> Boom...and the target is gone

<Christophe> I fear this was just a lucky shot

Eloise smiles

<Eloise> Thats the whole trick with these fellows

<Eloise> well how about trying out the RPG launcher now?

<Christophe> Sure

Eloise points at a target some 400 meters away

<Christophe> (What was RPG still? James mentioned it at agww, but I forgot again)

<Eloise> (dunno exactly, but I know how it looks...it's a rocket on a big stick...fire and forget..)

<Christophe> (Sounds good to me :-)

<Christophe> (dex&firearms at what diff?)

<Eloise> (rocket propelled grenade)

<Christophe> (Yatta!)

<Eloise> (diff 8)

Christophe takes the neat toy and tries to target properly

<Christophe> (1 WP...)

<Christophe> roll 6 d10

Le_ST --> "Christophe rolls 6#d10 and gets 3, 9, 6, 7, 2, 2."

<Le_ST> Boom..and anotherone bites to dust..

<Eloise> Nice shooting...

Christophe smiles

<Christophe> I'm somewhat surprised at myself

<Eloise> Well I bet you know how to lob grenades?

<Christophe> A little bit. Got more practive as sniper, though ^_^

<Christophe> I have to admit this is way more fun, though

<Eloise> It's only so unfortunate that even while these are among the most used toys of terrorists everywhere we hardly use these...

Eloise looks a bit disappointed

<Christophe> I guess... I could get used to them, too

Eloise leads you back into the bunker

<Le_ST> She leads you to room in which there is a bunch of electrical gadgets and chemical sets...

Christophe follows, looking back at the "more power!" guns...

<Christophe> Well, here I have to admit that I really lack the expertise

<Christophe> I guess you have to train me with explosives pretty much from scratch

<Le_ST> There you will spend the rest of the afternoon and the evening learning how to mix household chemicals for explosives and make timed detonators and triggers....and of course how to properly use C4 and other plastics..

Christophe nods and buries himself in the work

<Christophe> He finds it very interesting, to be sure

<Le_ST> It's really cool..except that you don't get any opportunity to blow things up...it's more theory than practice..

Christophe doesn't mind the theory. As a matter of fact, he really likes to understand what he's doing there

Eloise doesn't like making explosive toys much..

Christophe on the other hand seems to really like tis kind of work

<Eloise> ah well..

<Eloise> I don't like this very much...

<Eloise> but it's a usefull skill to have

<Eloise> I prefer clean assasinations...

<Christophe> Well, I can see a lot of uses in this - like getting into heavily guardes areas...

<Christophe> Put a nice "boom!" somewhere as diverson, and you have a free entrance on the other side

<Eloise> hmm..usually as soon as the boom goes, we are away as far as possible..

Le_ST needs to break off now

<Le_ST> You spend two days learning this explosive business since it's really new for you..
