 Bill Irvine - Marvin
 Rhiannon - FiXXXer667

 Storytortillo - Asmodai

Start of #Bills-plane buffer: Wed Oct 06 00:24:26 2004

<Rhiannon_D> Bill: It's like they knew I'd be along.. but that couldn't be, with me being barely re-activated! Only our group knew about that, and even then, those guys would normally not have the time to fit their gear for our situation.

<Rhiannon_D> Bill: Then, there was a comm unit missing from them.. It could be that one of them was outfitted with internal comms, but that's a bit unlikely..

<Bill_Irvine> Yeah... The com unit... Now you got it...

<Rhiannon_D> I really don't know what to make out of all this.

Bill_Irvine adjusts the settings some more, so he can change them any time needed.

<Bill_Irvine> I know what I will try now, Lady

Rhiannon_D chuckles

<Rhiannon_D> Lady, now that's something I don't hear that often.

<Bill_Irvine> Do you remember? Those com units seemed to have special frequencies and radio waves they used...

Rhiannon_D nods.

<Bill_Irvine> And any material has it's own special emmanations? You know what I mean? Every matter that is. Right?

<Rhiannon_D> So, you believe that some of us might have warned those people?

<Bill_Irvine> That's what I will find out if everything will work out fine...

<Storytortillo> Thing is... you both know the comm was missing after the attack... before the attack the comm was with the assault team

<Bill_Irvine> There is only one problem though. I need the exact frequency to scan for. If we would turn on one of those I could scan it, but also would attract attention to our location. I could try to disassemble the parts over there from the one we have here, but looks complex and could be broken

Bill_Irvine throws his cigar stump out of the side window and lights up a new one

<Rhiannon_D> well, we could try the latter option, specially since we seem to have a small stock of them

<Bill_Irvine> Do you know a way to get that bloody frequency out of the bugger? My means are limited and I don't want another three attack choppers go after me right now.

Rhiannon_D looks at Bill, then his cigar.

<Rhiannon_D> I don' now if I can manage that without scanning all frequencies.

<Rhiannon_D> I'd much rather pry it open and figure the architecture.

<Bill_Irvine> We have the parts over there. They have to be encoded in there and there has to be a way to get them extracted without me risking breaking them. Perhaps you know how?

<Bill_Irvine> The problem is we don't know what they have put in there. Do you remember what happened when we tried to use them to find something out?

<Rhiannon_D> I don't know per se, but I believe I could try to figure it out.

<Rhiannon_D> Yes, I do.

<Bill_Irvine> Well, give it a go... I'm open for any help. I will then scan the material used and in combination scan for the combinantion of both frequency and material

<Rhiannon_D> The helicopters flew right above me.

<Rhiannon_D> I can help with the material scan as well, mind you.

<Bill_Irvine> I just build this scanner *pads it* to deliver the results to the radar and scan the stuff

<Rhiannon_D> I just need a clean space to open this up, for the time being.

<Rhiannon_D> you got the parts here?

<Bill_Irvine> Over there on the work-bench

Bill_Irvine points in the direction

<Rhiannon_D> Ok, I'm on it.

<Bill_Irvine> And then let's hope it will work out and we will get the idea where this bloody piece of shit com unit is...

Rhiannon_D grabs a chair and sits next to the bench, bringing one of the headphones in front of her.

<Storytortillo> Rhiannon as you look at the parts you find the scattered parts

Rhiannon_D looks at the tools there and decides she needs something more delicate.

<Storytortillo> you take them into your hands and the nanites in your body shift into fine tools that allow you to probe inside it...

<Rhiannon_D> (should I be scared that you just let me do that without a roll?)

<Rhiannon_D> (so, what do I roll for the scan? Tech+Int?)

<Storytortillo> You are a Nanite farm

<Storytortillo> you can do it without a roll

<Storytortillo> you have the frequency

<Storytortillo> But how will you intepret it in Earth measurments is your only problem...

<Storytortillo> It's your fault you were studying human anatomy and not science... maybe you should ask Bill about a reference system

Rhiannon_D sighs

<Rhiannon_D> Bill?

<Rhiannon_D> We may have a problem here.

<Bill_Irvine> There is one over here

<Bill_Irvine> What is it?

<Rhiannon_D> Well, I think I've got a lock on the exact frequency..

<Rhiannon_D> I can replicate it for you, but I don't have the slightest clue as to how to explain it to you.

<Rhiannon_D> We used frequencies close to what you'd call subsonics for comunication and data-transfer... nothing like what's here.

<Bill_Irvine> Hmmm... Ok let's see...

Bill_Irvine starts to explain the basics of radar and radio communication to Rhi

<Bill_Irvine> (Sorry, dunno enough to do it any other way ^_^)

<Rhiannon_D> So, you use low frequency electro-magnetic waves?

<Bill_Irvine> Yup, M'am

<Storytortillo> You cna reproduce it for the machine...

<Storytortillo> That should work

<Rhiannon_D> Hm. Fascinating, if not somewhat inaccurate.. There certainly is material capable of bypassing those..

<Rhiannon_D> Well, If you can give me a burst of beams from your radar and tell me to what frequency it corresponds, I could give you an equivalent for the one I got.

<Bill_Irvine> I think it would be easier to fire up the usual radio and let you tune in. I can tell you what frequency it corresponds. Would that be enough?

<Rhiannon_D> Yes, that'd be fine.

<Rhiannon_D> (ST: I receive a frequency with forces, and then use it to find the equivalent of 1 Hz, then compare that to the frequency I have.)

<Rhiannon_D> (so, should I do the forces roll now?)

Bill_Irvine turns on the radio in the cockpit

Rhiannon_D looks at Bill.

<Rhiannon_D> What frequency are you going to use?

<Storytortillo> No need

Bill_Irvine tells Rhi the standart frequency

<Storytortillo> AS she doews it you are confused at first

<Storytortillo> but little by little you relaise the range is off...

<Storytortillo> You mange to locate it

<Storytortillo> it's above the normal radio frequencies

<Storytortillo> and it's not a typical frequency

<Storytortillo> and it has no similarities to any military frequencies yo uare familiar with

<Bill_Irvine> Hmmm... That's odd...

<Rhiannon_D> Well, they certainly seem to differ a lot.

<Rhiannon_D> yours was quite low for starters.

<Bill_Irvine> This is no frequency I know anyone uses. It's not military, it's not standart communication... At least none I know of... But it could make it all easier

Rhiannon_D shrugs.

<Rhiannon_D> Well, glad I could help.

<Bill_Irvine> Now give me one of those parts. Preferably one that looks like being made of an odd material and not so every day stuff

Rhiannon_D just hands him the one in her hands.

<Rhiannon_D> Are you going to scan for the materials' resonance?

<Rhiannon_D> 'cause I could help with that..

<Bill_Irvine> Yeah. That's what my new scanner is for. Then I will scan for a comination of the frequency and the material, trying to pinpoint the missing bugger

Rhiannon_D nods.

<Rhiannon_D> Good idea.

<Bill_Irvine> So give me one sample that looks odd. you can check the others for anything unusual, while I try to find that bloody thing.

<Rhiannon_D> (erm, shouldn't all the earplugs look identical??

)

<Bill_Irvine> (I meant in the sense of unusual material. Something that looks uncommon ;))

<Rhiannon_D> (ST: any pieces that aren't standard silicon-metal, etc?)

<Storytortillo> Okay... as you do that you are both overloaded... it seems the whole ship has polymers all over it

<Storytortillo> you will need to refine it better

<Bill_Irvine> (Even in combination with the frequency? Just was about to put it into the scanner *g*)

<Storytortillo> (then refine ir oh great refiner! :))

<Bill_Irvine> Ok, the material is way too common it seems. We need to narrow it down.

<Rhiannon_D> Hm.

<Bill_Irvine> (Is it overloading when trying to pinpoint or while scanning?)

<Rhiannon_D> well, we could always perform the scan in a different surrounding?

<Rhiannon_D> at least I could..

<Rhiannon_D> But that'd work only on the condition we landed..

<Bill_Irvine> I could undock and just fly a little bit away from the blimp. Change of surrounding is not the problem as you can see. We are on my baby after all.

<Storytortillo> (no

<Storytortillo> (no need for that... you need to make it search for both and filter at the same time... add a circuit braker to the mix)

<Rhiannon_D> Hm, perhaps the scanner needs some more tinkering..

<Bill_Irvine> (<--- technical dumbass ^_^)

<Rhiannon_D> lemme see that.

<Bill_Irvine> (Outside interference should be shut out from the scanner by the isolation chamber the sample is in.)

<Storytortillo> (hey i am not much better... it's not called a circuit breaker... it's something else ;) just wing it)

<Bill_Irvine> Ok, under the panel are the wirings, the scanner is over here.

<Storytortillo> (but bill should know it)

<Bill_Irvine> Don't mix up the wires and cables... It seems to need some kind of filter...

Rhiannon_D opens the panel and checks the wiring, then decides to divert the signal from the frequency radar to the material scanner, and give it a different timing.

Rhiannon_D turns on the material scanner and sees a crapload of signals coming from all over the place, then a second sweep, this time from the normal radar, leaving no blip.

<Rhiannon_D> (on the same screen, both signals, only the freq. radar doesn't show anything yet)

<Rhiannon_D> (when we get a dot that overlaps the other one, we find the place ^_^)

Bill_Irvine comments the results he sees on the screen and tries to adjust the settings together with Rhi, by telling her what results are shown

<Rhiannon_D> (ie. the specific radio frequency should only come from the radios, and thus overlap with the blip they make on the material scanner. so, we should have exactly 12 blips(that was the initial number of devices, no?))

<Storytortillo> No

<Storytortillo> If they are all offline, as they should be there should be 0

<Storytortillo> if one of them is online there will be one

<Rhiannon_D> (hm, I presumed they were still on ^_^)

<Storytortillo> If they were on you'd all be in trouble :)

<Rhiannon_D> (as if we aren't already X_x)

<Rhiannon_D> (ok, 0 signals for no online comms, so I guess that means my trick works.)

<Rhiannon_D> Ok, I think we can try it now

<Rhiannon_D> There should be a second blip in at least one spot in the screen, on top of the yellow material ones.

<Rhiannon_D> (ST...?)

<Storytortillo> Okay...

<Storytortillo> gimme a roll

<Storytortillo> Each of you Arete

<Storytortillo> in the main channel

<Rhiannon_D> (ok)

<Rhiannon_D> (2sux)

<Bill_Irvine> (2sux)

<Storytortillo> (okay you are curently analysing it... more info to come :))

<Storytortillo> Okay you two...

<Storytortillo> you found a resonance

<Storytortillo> the thing was used...

<Rhiannon_D> (nod)

<Storytortillo> and there are blips all over the ship

<Bill_Irvine> (ummm... Also where none should be i.E. outside of Himiko's cabin?)

<Storytortillo> however there is one that is strogner then the others... you can find it if you use this as a hot/warm

<Storytortillo> no

<Storytortillo> what you got is somethign that was used in the last week or so

<Storytortillo> the corpses were freed from it way back

<Bill_Irvine> (Any signal outside of the normal? Any that could be the missing one?)

<Storytortillo> okay

<Storytortillo> Read what i wrote

<Storytortillo> all of it

<Storytortillo> and then ask me again

<Bill_Irvine> (D'Uh. *hits his head on the wood of his desk for punishment*)

<Bill_Irvine> Hey, you see this one? It's stronger than the others! Gotcha by the balls, bugger!

<Rhiannon_D> That's assuming he has a pair.

Rhiannon_D nods.

<Storytortillo> this one is recent...

<Storytortillo> maybe a day or so...

<Rhiannon_D> the signal is stronger indeed, now we only need to locate its position.. What's the scale on the radar?

Bill_Irvine explains the technical stuff to Rhi

<Bill_Irvine> (<---- Still technical dumbass *g*)

<Storytortillo> It's on the Ship... that's for sure :)

<Bill_Irvine> We got a rat in our ranks...

<Rhiannon_D> Hm. so, that shouldn't be away from the hangar..

<Rhiannon_D> Erm, how many steps does that translate to?

Rhiannon_D shows the distance between the b52and the dot.

<Storytortillo> Well it's not very accurate but if you walked around the ship you may be able to find where it was...

<Bill_Irvine> (We can't take the radar with us)

<Storytortillo> Okay... it seems to be in the general direction of the other half of the ship... where sleeping bunks are...

<Rhiannon_D> (*nod*)

<Bill_Irvine> We need a way to transport this signal to a portable thingie, so we can check more accurately

Rhiannon_D chuckles.

<Rhiannon_D> I coould be the portable thingie you need.

<Rhiannon_D> (-o. Rhi can run the forces matter scan with her onboard sensors)

<Storytortillo> (Bingo :))

<Bill_Irvine> So you think you can transport the signal and we proclaim the hunting season opened?

<Rhiannon_D> Lemme just patch the scanning sequence in my sensors..

<Rhiannon_D> (ST: arete?)

<Bill_Irvine> Oh and one thing... No word to the others! We don't know who the dog is and could warn him unwantingly)

<Storytortillo> (no need)

<Rhiannon_D> Yes, of course.

Rhiannon_D checks her hud after adding a few lines to her sensor's control console.

Bill_Irvine checks his guns and lets out another big puff of smoke (would this be a bad movie it would look like a skull *eg*)

Rhiannon_D can see the signal, and starts heading towards it.

<Bill_Irvine> Let's go and play "pest patrol!"

Bill_Irvine follows Rhi, ready to draw his guns if needed

<Bill_Irvine> (Specialty: Fast Drawing ^_^)

<Rhiannon_D> (back to main???)

Rhiannon_D looks at Bill, then sighs.

<Rhiannon_D> Although I'd hate that, it seems that a gun add-on could prove very handy while being with you people.

<Rhiannon_D> anyway, just please cover my back.

<Bill_Irvine> Be sure of it, Lady...

<Bill_Irvine> I am ready to draw and shoot

<Rhiannon_D> ..and Bill?

<Bill_Irvine> Yeah?

<Rhiannon_D> Thanks for calling me a Lady.

Rhiannon_D smiles.

Rhiannon_D heads forward, towards the sleeping quarters

<Bill_Irvine> You are a lady... sort of, aren't ya?

<Rhiannon_D> Yes, in a few ways, you could say I am.

Bill_Irvine keeps his eyes open and checks the surroundings

<Rhiannon_D> (I guess we go back to main now)

<Bill_Irvine> (bill uses the term in the rather mundane way, not in the blue blood theme *g*)

<Rhiannon_D> (yes, even that's much better than the soulless machine approach some of the rest have ^^)

<Bill_Irvine> (Dunno, we aren't together with the others yet)

<Bill_Irvine> (Bill just got used to Rhi ;))

<Storytortillo> okay move to the rest of the ship

<Storytortillo> we are done here
